Unblock something easily

Prerequisites

• I verified that this is not a filter list issue. Report any issues with filter lists or broken website functionality in the uAssets issue tracker.

• I performed a cursory search of the issue tracker to avoid opening a duplicate issue.
• The issue is not present after disabling uBO in the browser.
• I checked the documentation to understand that the issue I am reporting is not normal behavior.

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

• uBO is the only extension.
• uBO uses default lists and settings.
• using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

There is currently no easy way to temporarily or permanently unblock something that is blocked, neither for a single site nor globally.

I shouldn't have to faff about with dynamic filters and whatnot, nobody will understand that, especially novice users.

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to any site that has something blocked
2. Now try to unlbock one thing. Good luck.

Expected behavior

1. Open the panel
2. Observe the list of blocked things
3. Click on a thing that is being blocked
4. Somehow have a way to unblock it, right then & there, easily, without complicated configuration faff.

Actual behavior

You'd have to dive into the configuration, add something to dynamic filters, with no hint on how to write a filter, save it, hope that it doesn't get removed on save (mine did, so that's not working at all, but nevermind) and then commit it once you're happy.

Good luck explaining that to my mother. Even I couldn't get it to work.

Documentation told me it should be first-part third-party * noop. But on save, it gets removed, without any hint on why. A simple "unblock this" function could do this for the user without the possibility of making a mistake.

This is for advanced users who understand the wiki. The documentation didn't say the exact words first-part or third-party there. You are misunderstand how dynamic rules work.

Okay then I'm not an advanced user. But a novice user should be able to unblock something as well.

I don't have a website to show, we're building it as we speak and it's not public yet (and it will never be, it's internal). I only have a url to not block: *.in.applicationinsights.azure.com. The asterisk is a wildcard.

But it doesn't matter. I just want to allow something. Please make a button or something next to a blocked thing (or item, or whatever you call it) to stop blocking it. And yes, that is generic, because while the request is for a specific thing, you may consider it a generic request. I want to be able to unblock a blocked thing - whatever it is, on any website. It makes sense that when a content blocker blocks content, the user is capable of overriding that. Would you not agree?

So for example, because I know you're going to repeat your request for a screenshot, a "thing" like this:

I just want to be able to unblock one thing. And that, where the big fat red arrow points to, is indeed a blocked thing.

That's what advanced user mode is for, for people who have minimal understanding of network requests can unblock "things". This cannot be simplified further to make people without minimal technical knowledge to make informed modifications to network filtering.

There will be no change regarding this.

You can use the logger to see what is being blocked, and set to allow them in there:

Read that page first, and scroll down.

When you see something blocked, click on it. There's a Static filter pane where you can adjust how you want to block or allow a connection.

Why can't there just be a button? Why does it have to be as difficult as possible?
