Before we open source the project or start using in on other projects inside the company, we need to do the following:

1. Write a spec to define behaviour. It will probably require some tweaks in the implementation, because there are some flaws, currently
2. Write tests
3. Publish it in PyPI
4. (Optional) Create a plugin for most common Wagtail tags to allow us to re-use fake tags without copy-pasting from project to project.

It's important to do these steps before we start using this on other projects, because it would be hard to make fundamental changes (see the point №1) and then upgrade these projects.

Currently it's more like proof of concept. This is one of the reasons, why it's in a private repo rather than on GitHub or even in internal space on GitLab.

I've tried to update documentation to reflect the exiting functionality in !10. It doesn't cover everything, but it's a start.

Well – it’s open-source now! I think the above is still very valid, but I think this can all happen with the project already being open, rather than it needing to meet any particular criteria beforehand. If anything I’d be interested to see more people using this, reporting issues, maybe even contributing to the above.

And, yes, the project comes with no guarantee of stability, quality, or fit-for-purpose-ness, and it definitely needs further documentation before others can meaningfully use it. So – a soft open-sourcing in a sense. Might make more of an announcement out of this with the next release, which should hopefully come with more usability improvements, and documentation of the advantages and drawbacks of using this package.
