yes, fourcc is not useful enough to be inside official releases (IMO).

I thought fourcc was going to be used by rustc. That was the primary justification for adding it in-tree in the first place.

There had been a discussion on this subject on the list and this module was
listed for deprecation.

Sure, I'm just surprised it never ended up being used in rustc as was the original intention.

@kballard I bet someone had a great use-case. Moreover, the minute I spotted this module, it just slotted right into the gap between some of the greats projects of my own!
