π£ Student/Teacher Verification Has Moved β Now in Your User Settings! #156395

We would like to inform you that the student/teacher verification process has been relocated to a new section within your user settings, right next to your billing and plans information. 
By moving the verification process to your settings page it makes it easier to access, manage, and track everything related to your account in one place. Whatβs new in this update:
Your application has been received and is currently under review. Youβll see updates here as it moves through each stage of the verification process. 
If your application is rejected, youβll now see clear reasons and tips for what to fix before trying again. Important Your academic benefits will be activated within 72 hours after successful verification. π
No action required for verified usersIf you have already completed verification, no further action is required. Need Help or Noticed a Bug?If you run into any issues or spot a bug during the updated verification process, let us know in the comments β your feedback helps us make things better for everyone. If you need support with the application steps themselves, feel free to start a new discussion thread. Our team and community members are always around to help you out. |

@kfaizi I found a way to bypass this. You can enable the button by doing the following:

Hi! I got the same question like you, I reapplied today. It shows I have been verified already. They will give me benefits soon. I guess you can try to reapply to see your status as well. |

Hey, I got access to the github education benefits yesterday and I am already using it. I applied April 12 and got access yesterday April 15 (PH Time) exactly 72 hours. I did not need to reapply for the benefits so you should just wait. |

Hi! I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as you. My application was approved a few days ago, but when I try to open the "Education Benefits" details, it gets stuck loading and never shows the confirmation or the Copilot Pro redemption link. Were you able to fix it? Was it just a temporary glitch, or did you have to contact support or do something specific to solve it? Thanks in advance! |

Is this requiring students receive an email to their school email address? If so, is there another alternate way of them verifying? Our studentsβ accounts have email disabled, so they cannot receive an email code. |

Hey! My governmentally issued student ID is 2-sided. On the front it has my name, date of birth and ID number and on the backside it shows the date of validity and the name of my school (among other info). In the current state of the system, it's not possible to upload multiple sides nor to upload pictures from my gallery. I've tried taking a picture of the backside only, but photos taken with both my front camera and back camera turned out to be blurry. I've even tried with my webcam but it produced an even worse image. After many failed attempts, I've submitted a barely readable photo and it got rejected almost instantly. Could you make uploading documents permitted or at least have the option to verify students through other channels? It would be urgent for my JetBrains subscription. |

Thank you for your reply! I tried taking a picture of 2 of my documents, one being my student identity card and the other being an official dated exam notifier with my school's stamp. I took one photo with my front and one with my back camera, but no matter what, they turned out to be unreadably blurry. I cleared the cameras beforehand and they work perfectly fine in other apps. What could you recommend? |

Yeah, you will definitely need to show your personal details - key to the application. I would suggest having a look at I need to translate my evidence. What can I do? which suggests that you show one side of your Student ID along side your School Details (you can perhaps write it down in bigger characters for easier visibility). |

Then: YOU SHOULD MOVE YOUR DNS OFF GITHUB PAGES IMMEDIATELY, UNTIL YOUR RENEWAL GOES THROUGH Otherwise, it is possible your domain will redirect to a SPAM website while GH Pages is offline. On my domain, this was some kind of online casino website based in India. I have absolutely no idea how this is technically possible, but this happened to my domain. I am not sure if this is due to some kind of bug or security issue, but if anyone knows the right place to file a ticket, please let me know. I cannot imagine this kind of redirect being intended behavior. |

Are you sure you verified your domain in https://github.com/settings/pages? There is an additional step to required to prevent other people from using your domain name. |

Yes, my domain has been verified for years. There was no setup problem. What happened was my edu discount expired, and GitHub took my website offline, because it was built from a private repository rather than a public one. GitHub pages is only supported for public repositories unless on a pro account. At this point, my domain redirected to a SPAM website. |

Horrible photo processing after the photo. After the photo is taken, its quality becomes terrible. I even put the phone on the holder opposite the laptop. But during the photo counter, the resolution is normal, all the text is visible, but after the photo is taken, the photo quality becomes terrible, and the text is unreadable. Just add an upload functionality. How should I approve my documents if ur camera destroys the resolution of pictures |

This update has broken the ability to apply without a camera. I'm on a linux desktop with no webcam. My phone camera is broken also. Why is it not possible to simply upload PDF files from my university? I don't have physical papers through my university to begin with. It's all electronic these days. Likewise, I don't have a student ID because it's an online campus. To top it off, I can't even submit a support ticket to the GitHub Education department. Copilot blocks me from submitting a ticket, and it spews outdated information with pure conviction saying that a "camera isn't required to apply for GitHub Education". When I click on "Submit a ticket", it just takes me back to the beginning (where you choose the type of support you're looking for) and doesn't submit the ticket! I can't submit an application, I can't submit a support ticket, and Copilot is useless. Someone please help! Edit: I started a separate issue for this here: #168621 |

Yes, there's no option to upload files for users without cameras. Additionally, my school is 100% online and doesn't provide physical documentation or ID. I started a separate issue about this here: #168621 |

Hello, 
I suspect there are two main reasons for this issue. First, image uploads are not supported, and I can only take photos, which results in poor image quality of the certificate, making the relevant information difficult to read. Second, the full name on the certificate is fundamentally reversed; in other words, it is written in the order of Last Name, First Name. Both of these issues are beyond my control. How can I resolve this? |

Hi, I previously was verified as a student and trying to renew my verification. I submitted an application about one hour ago but it got denied. I then made the changes requested under the Denied drop down, logged out, signed back in and made another application. However, when I upload a picture of my student id, it loads for a few seconds, then the box which is suppose to show the uploaded id goes blank and a small red warning symbol appears on the top left, but I get no other messages. This keeps happening and I am not able to proceed with the application.

I'm getting a strange error when registering for the student developer pack. It tells me that my last name doesn't match my name in my billing information! I have tried my best to capture my school enrollment and financial statement with the camera but have received the error "unable to read." Further, I am doing remote coursework via Grand Canyon University(Arizona) but live in Canada... so I will never be in a location near GCU's physical campus. Are online students disqualified from pursuing GitHub's educational package? |
