Description of issue

Installation is fine; however, when kicad updates to a new major release (7.x.x.x.x --> 8.x.x.x.x), the plugins wipe. The only history is in the previous version; however, homebrew erases that (which is, in all other regards, great).

Is there any means to, at the time of each major release (7.x.x.x.x --> 8.x.x.x.x, etcetera), update/create a .txt file which logs which plugins were installed in the plugin manager in the previous release?

(If this is not possible, is it possible to ask homebrew to not remove the previous release when updating to the next release — for major releases only, for kicad only?)

Where are the plugins stored?

They are saved, (even after new installs) — just not in the many places I was looking.

~/Documents/KiCad/<majorReleaseNumber>.0/3rdparty/
