How to make bindings (to) esp work

First off, thank you for the amazing project! I am already happy having my esp connected to zigbee!

Second of all, I don't really know how bindings are supposed to work. I couldn't get them to work with some Ikea LED strip, which could be a limitation of that device.

Anyway, here is my config:

Things I've tried chaning:

1. device_type: ON_OFF_LIGHT, ON_OFF_SWITCH
2. router: true
3. report: false under the attribute

Now I can toggle the light (LED) from my zigbee2mqtt dashboard just fine. I can also create the binding from some sonoff switch to endpoint 1 genOnOff:

I expect the LED and on/off state to toggle when I toggle the sonoff switch, but that does not happen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

From esp and z2m side this looks correct to me, but I never tried binding directly to the esp. Does your switch support this? Because it should also work also with the IKEA lights.
What models are you using?

ON_OFF_LIGHT should be fine. Router and report settings shouldn't matter.

Please provide some logs from the esp. When you restart the esp the binding table is printed in the logs.

It seems to be a problem with the switch actually. There is a custom firmware to make it work, but sadly I don't have an adapter to flash it. So I will probably just be getting a switch that supports binding out of the box.
