mist not connecting to network

I've had it running for a while, it's not showing any peers or downloading the blockchain. Does anyone have online peers I can add manually? Port 30303 is forwarded.

The peer discovery protocol should automatically connect to peers (and bootstrap nodes). When you restart Mist does it connect to something?

I am behind a single "technicolor" router right now, but not a VPN. Yesterday I was using that router + airport base station and had the same issues.

I rebuilt the Go bootnode (54.169.166.226) using latest from develop, however I'm still getting "Connection refused" when trying to connect from local Mist installation.

The log on the server is being appended to, so it seems the server receiving some connections.

Port 30303 is forwarded.

Do you forward the port manually in your router configuration?

In this case, could you try running with -nat extip:<YOUR IP> on the
command line?

"Connection refused" is ok for the Go bootnode. It does not accept TCP connections.

I used -nat, i'm showing one peer but they blockchain isn't downloading yet

it seems to only download blocks while i'm mining. still only one peer. manually adding the one above didn't work

I fixed a problem with the qt5.4.1 repo not workin but there's no improvement

It starts working with both extip and external port are set via command line

i also deleted ~/.ethereum first, not sure if that mattered
