Makes sense to me, 2024.0 is a nice version to adopt oneAPI Fortran compiler by default

@bartoldeman What's the claim by Intel for oneAPI Fortran compiler versions >= 2024.0, are they officially considered now?

@boegel boegel changed the title Set oneapi_fortran=True by default for Intel 2024.0.0+ use Intel's oneAPI Fortran compiler by default for version 2024.0.0 and newrer (oneapi_fortran toolchain option set to True) Jul 3, 2024

The release notes for 2024.x say

NOTE Intel® Fortran Compiler Classic (ifort) is now deprecated and will be discontinued in late 2024. Intel recommends that customers transition now to using the LLVM-based Intel® Fortran Compiler (ifx) for continued Windows* and Linux* support, new language support, new language features, and optimizations.
