3.7 (2024-04-11) ++++++++++++++++

  • Fix issue where specially crafted inputs to encode() could take exceptionally long amount of time to process. [CVE-2024-3651]

Thanks to Guido Vranken for reporting the issue.

3.6 (2023-11-25) ++++++++++++++++

  • Fix regression to include tests in source distribution.

3.5 (2023-11-24) ++++++++++++++++

  • Update to Unicode 15.1.0
  • String codec name is now "idna2008" as overriding the system codec "idna" was not working.
  • Fix typing error for codec encoding
  • "setup.cfg" has been added for this release due to some downstream lack of adherence to PEP 517. Should be removed in a future release so please prepare accordingly.
  • Removed reliance on a symlink for the "idna-data" tool to comport with PEP 517 and the Python Packaging User Guide for sdist archives.
  • Added security reporting protocol for project

Thanks Jon Ribbens, Diogo Teles Sant'Anna, Wu Tingfeng for contributions to this release.

Currently we have circular dependencies between linux-image and
linux-modules/linux-modules-extra packages. This is redundant, and
harmful when additional types of linux-images are provided
(i.e. kernel.efi).

Break the circular dependency by only keeping linux-image ->
linux-modules dep, remove linux-modules -> linux-image dep, remove
linux-modules-extra -> linux-image dep, add linux-modules-extra ->
linux-modules dep.

Match the rustc, rust-src, and rustfmt versions to 1.80 (this is the
default in Oracular and has been backported into Noble).
We also have to override the commands used for the build as the
backports use a different namespace. Add those overrides to hooks.mk and
the local-mangle script which generates hooks.mk after each rebase.

We introduced the dwarfdump command in 2-binary-arch.mk on the
parent kernels, hence need to add this package here in Build-Depends.

[ Upstream commit bc7e0975093567f51be8e1bdf4aa5900a3cf0b1e ]

btrfs_prelim_ref() calls the old and new reference variables in the
incorrect order. This causes a NULL pointer dereference because oldref
is passed as NULL to trace_btrfs_prelim_ref_insert().

Note, trace_btrfs_prelim_ref_insert() is being called with newref as
oldref (and oldref as NULL) on purpose in order to print out
the values of newref.

To reproduce:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/btrfs/btrfs_prelim_ref_insert/enable

Perform some writeback operations.
