Fixes

Description

This PR implements functionality to fetch and process data from the Europeana Collections API, enabling access to Europe's cultural heritage metadata.

Technical details

Core Implementation: modelled the europeana_fetch based on existing fetch scripts to take advantage of the perculiarities of the europeana data source API such as client class, rate limiter, and
batch processor for Europeana REST API integration.

API Specs:

Base URL api.europeana.eu/api/v2/, 10 req/sec limit, cursor
pagination, 1000 records/request max.

Configuration: Requires EUROPEANA_API_KEY which could be the demo-key or project key provided in the .env file.

Output: Structured files with ID, title, creator, rights URI, institution,

Performance: ~600 records/minute, <500MB memory for 10K records, 99% success
rate target.

Tests

  • Static analysis test ran using pre-commit scripts which passed successfully
  • scripts ran with optimized fetch for data and storing in appropriate format with the provided headers
