The DefaultProjectDependencyGraph#getSortedProjects method is really inefficient and some data could be easily cached to have a performance boost.

On the project I was working on, it gives a 2 seconds improvement to the project poms parsing time (i.e. simply running mvn with no goal for an early failure).
