SUMMARY Back in 6.0.0 we deprecated a bunch of common parameters/variables and docs fragments. With 9.0.0 out, it's time to finish the deprecation process and clean up the aliases ec2_ parameters (because they weren't limited to EC2) EC2_ variables (because they weren't limited to EC2) s3_url / S3_URL/endpoint -> endpoint_url/AWS_URL (consistency) references to "security_token" -> "session_token" (Amazon renamed it to "Session token" when they replaced the boto SDK with the boto3 SDK - it's also more understandable that it's specifically tied to a specific session) boto_profile parameter (consistency) amazon.aws.aws doc fragment -> amazon.aws.common.modules amazon.aws.ec2 doc fragment -> amazon.aws.region.modules amazon.aws.aws_credentials doc fragment -> amazon.aws.common.plugins amazon.aws.aws_region doc fragment -> amazon.aws.region.plugins ISSUE TYPE Feature Pull Request COMPONENT NAME plugins/doc_fragments/aws_credentials.py plugins/doc_fragments/common.py plugins/doc_fragments/region.py plugins/module_utils/modules.py plugins/modules/s3_bucket.py plugins/modules/s3_object.py plugins/modules/s3_object_info.py ADDITIONAL INFORMATION See also: #1172 Reviewed-by: Bikouo Aubin

SUMMARY
As seen in both #1170 and ansible-collections/community.aws#1458 the "EC2_" prefix for a number of fall-back environment variables results in confusion. "EC2_" implies it's specific to the EC2 API, not all of AWS.
