"Spread" (dual page) view

There should be the option to view pages of certain documents side by side (verso, recto). This could either be another view (in addition to grid and document) or could replace the regular document view for applicable documents.

We will have to think about how to implement this. The simple way is to ensure that image files are named sequentially with _r and _v somewhere in their filename. That would eliminate the need to add in any extra data source.

I think it should be an option, though, alongside the grid and scrolling view.

What about instead having a grid view where you can adjust the number of pages that appears per grid row dynamically? So you could set it to two, for example, which should theoretically be the same as the spread view (although there might need to be an extra page inserted at the beginning to ensure that pages display properly), or even to one, which would be identical to the regular scrolling view. Would that work?

This would be good. We can set a few default presets for displaying a 2-up grid. However, there are some instances of books (like the ones we have on microfilm) where they combine a couple books on to the same reel, meaning you can get two verso pages next to each other, with a missing (but presumably blank) recto page. So we may need to still have a way of putting in arbitrary blank pages, or specifying which is r and which is v.

How much re-engineering would this grid system take? It sounds like quite a bit. Would this be something we can work on for v. 2.0?
