Interfacing with the language server from another VSCode extension, is it possible?

Someone I know would like to use a language server to add autocompletions for a specific set of API from a VSCode extension. They said that a lot of people apparently dislike EmmyLua but the annotations are very helpful and this language server happens to support EmmyLua annotations.
